DON'T SING ALONE... SING-ALONG...   WITH US.
Metropolitan Room proudly presents a special series called "Sing-Along with..." Each event will be hosted by some of the most popular entertainers in the industry who will create a theme all their own with music that you will recognize and want to participate in.  Nothing's more exciting than to be singing together with other people.   Even during holidays, many of us gather around the piano and sing familiar tunes as a group and there's so much love and joy in it.   Music is healing and singing together with others makes us happy and builds community and brotherhood.  Create great memories with us.   

EVERYONE WANTS TO SING
So many of us have been told at some point during our impressionable years that we can’t sing or shouldn’t sing in public because we have a terrible voice.  Consequently, we shied away from using our voices to express ourselves and from speaking our truth.  Singing is instinctual, primal even and deep down, we all want to sing because we were all designed that way!  There are several scientific explanations why singing is actually good for your soul and health.

SINGING MAKES US FEEL GOOD
We experience pleasure from sound vibrations as they resonate in our oral cavities and throughout our bodies.  Endorphins are released when we sing which promotes positive feelings. This is especially true when we sing with other people and group singing induces the production of oxytocin (the bonding hormone). This process reduces stress, anxiety and increases feelings of trust and well-being.

SINGING IS GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH
Singing is considered an aerobic activity because of the amount of oxygen that is delivered to the brain. Many singers report feelings of invigoration, euphoria or even bliss when performing. This is partly due to the deep breathing that singing requires. Deep breathing has immense restorative power and reduces stress and can even put us into a meditative state. Moreover, singing decreases cortisol levels (stress hormone), which helps produce more antibodies that boost our immune systems.  There are emotional health benefits as well. We see this in the mother’s instinct to comfort her crying baby with a song and in the tradition of a lullaby to put a child to sleep. Singing along to sad songs when we’re feeling blue and happy songs when we’re on top of the world both have a positive impact on our mood.

SINGING MAKES THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
When we understand who we are at our core and what unique qualities we posses, we stop comparing ourselves to each other. The fear and anxiety that fuels us to fight, to hoard, and to oppress is transformed into compassion, generosity and love. This positive change has a ripple effect which begins in our own lives, then extends to our friends and families, our communities and eventually into the world at large.

WE ARE ONE COMMUNITY
It has been suggested that singing in groups can result in a phenomenon called entrainment. The pulses of the singers synchronize as one collective heartbeat, part of one enormous system, the heart of humanity.
