Thompson Education Center Welcomes the Delegation from the China Cuisine Association

(PRWEB) June 13, 2015

On May 21, 2015, the Thompson Education Center held a welcome party for the delegation from the China Cuisine Association. There were representatives from over 30 major restaurant chains in China that participate in the event. During the dinner party, the delegation representatives shared their restaurant management experience in China, their ideas on expanding the business to U.S. and their questions about that as well. They also showed support and interest investing in the Thompson Education Center project because they believe that the project has tremendous potential.

Thompson Education Center project offers restaurant investment opportunities to Chinese restaurant owners who want to do business in U.S. The idea is to bring more authentic Chinese cuisines to the student dining hall. It will not only enrich students’ dining experience, but will also attract more food enthusiasts to come here and try some traditional Chinese cuisine that won’t be found in China Town or Flushing.

On May 22, both parties (Thompson Education Center and China Cuisine Association) accompanied by the officer from the Sullivan County Visitors Association visited the Culinary Institute of America. They were very impressed by its well-equipt and fully functional facility settings and professional faculty members. In the future, Thompson Education Center would like to work with the Culinary Institute of America, to invite their chef-instructors as guest professors, and to design special culinary education programs for TEC students. Thompson Education Center believes that together they will provide students a unique and exciting culinary learning experience.

On May 23, the delegation from the China Cuisine Association visited TEC project site. Later TEC hosted a luncheon at Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant. The project professionals that co-hosted include: Dan Ionescu Architects, Proyect & Hart Attorneys at Law and D&D Construction. In addition to these companies there were also keynote speakers from the following government agency which include two officers from United States Embassy of Beijing. These speakers all came for the same reason, which is to show support for the project because it has the potential to spur economic growth, job creation, to increase the amount of visitors to the region and to help Chinese businesses invest in the U.S.

The event was well attended and highly successful in bringing together many of the Chinese entrepreneurs that would like to invest in the project. Thompson Education Center gained enormous positive feedback from the delegation since they felt the project has tremendous potential to provide better educational programs, better dinning quality for students and better investment opportunities. Besides the Thompson Education Center Project will benefit the Sullivan County since it will increase the local employment rate of the Sullivan County, stimulate economic growth in the region, and increase the amount of visitors to the region.

In tough economic times, the Thompson Education Center will bring an influx of many jobs to Sullivan County. Initially and throughout the project, many contractors and real estate workers will be employed. In fact, since Thompson Education Center Job Opportunity Event was held on Oct. 22, 2014, the project has already offered some job contracts to local contractors and other professional firms and more and more job contracts will be offered throughout the entire project. Once the project is complete, there will be many job openings at the Thompson Education Center. The project will not only be beneficial to local businesses and economic development but it would also increase the number of local jobs available. Thompson Education Center has already moved to the planning and construction stage, many planning jobs and some construction related jobs have been created and there will be many construction related jobs available as the project moves forward. After it is built, there will be real estate related jobs to maintain daily operations, including but not limited to sales, professors, instructors, school book store and shop keepers, chefs, landscapers, cleaning, and maintenance workers that are much needed in the area and the United States.

The delegation from the China Cuisine Association paid a three-day visit to the Thompson Education Center Project and introduced many business investors to the TEC Project. Thompson Education Center Welcomes the Delegation from the China Cuisine Association возрождение церковь

NEA honors leaders of PBS, CPB with Friend of Education Award

Paula A. Kerger, president and CEO of Public Broadcasting Service, speaks after receiving the Friend of Education award at NEA’s 94th Representative Assembly in Orlando, Florida, on July 5, 2015.

The highest honor of the National Education Association (NEA) was awarded yesterday to leaders in the public broadcasting industry whose networks have made a lasting educational difference in the lives of millions of children. Paula A. Kerger, president and chief executive officer of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and the Honorable Patricia “Pat” de Stacy Harrison, president and chief executive officer of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), were named recipients of NEA’s 2015 Friend of Education Award. Kerger was in Orlando, Florida, to accept the award in front of more than 7,000 educators gathered for NEA’s Representative Assembly (RA).

“Public broadcasting is an undeniable and critical resource for educators,” said NEA President Lily Eskelsen García. “Paula and Pat have been at the helm of an industry that helps not just educators, but also the students they teach. Their reach and impact across this nation in teaching and learning make them genuine partners of public education. The honorees understand the importance of education to our country’s future. We are honored and grateful to call each of them an NEA Friend of Education.”

PBS was founded in 1967 in order to use the power of media to educate, engage and inspire all Americans. For more than 40 years, PBS has been a trusted source of educational content for learners of all ages. In keeping with public media’s educational roots, Kerger, who joined PBS in 2006, has made strong commitments to education, the arts, news and public affairs programming in addition to emphasizing diversity and the use of new technology to bring public media into the lives of all Americans.

“Our country will succeed or fail based on our ability to educate and engage the next generation,” said Kerger who was on hand to accept the award. “At PBS, we strive to put education at the heart of all that we do, and to build partnerships with others who are equally focused on education. From social emotional ‘grit’ to literacy to STEM skills, we’ve worked hard to make sure that our content does more than entertain; it also inspires and teaches.”

Under Kerger’s leadership, the network developed PBS LearningMedia, which provides educators with digital content, strategies, learning tools and professional development resources needed to fully utilize digital learning in the classroom. The service includes classroom-ready, curriculum-based digital resources, including videos and interactives, audio, documents and in-depth lesson plans. Drawing from critically acclaimed PBS programs such as NOVA, FRONTLINE, American Experience, TV’s most-watched history series, plus PBS KIDS programs like Sid the Science Kid, the service offers teachers more than 100,000 videos, images, interactives, lesson plans and articles to enrich classroom instruction. These resources are available for free to PreK-12 classrooms all across the country through PBS member stations.

“We realize that because we are accessible in every home across the country, we have a tremendous responsibility to use our airwaves to prepare children for success in school and in life,” Kerger said in her remarks. “On behalf of all of our member stations, who work every day to help PBS meet the needs of today’s teachers and learners, I am honored to receive this award.”

Kerger also received the award on behalf of Harrison, whose leadership helped CPB create “American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen,” a nationwide public media initiative to help communities across the country keep young people on the path to graduation. To date, over 80 stations in more than 30 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, are working with more than 1,400 local partners and schools to address the challenges faced by at-risk youth and to develop long-term solutions that span the entire education continuum, from building a strong foundation in math and literacy skills to college and career readiness.

Harrison also is chairman of the Leadership Council of Women and Girls Lead, an innovative public media initiative designed to focus, educate and connect women, girls and their allies across the globe to address the challenges of the 21st century. In 2012, she was included on the Forbes list of “Women Changing the World in Media.”

“I am so very proud to accept this award from NEA on behalf of our great education team led by Deb Sanchez at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting who work every day through public media to help our country’s young people have the chance to succeed as early learners and eventually American graduates,” said Harrison. “Providing high-value educational programming to all Americans, especially underserved audiences, is a founding principle for public broadcasting.”

The Friend of Education Award, presented each year duing NEA’s RA, recognizes a person or organization whose leadership, acts or support significantly have contributed to the improvement of American public education. Kerger and Harrison follow previous award recipients that include Nobel-prize winning Malala Yousafzai; economist Paul Krugman; education policy writer and researcher Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond; U.S. Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, James Earl “Jimmy” Carter, Jr., and William Jefferson Clinton; U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall; U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley; U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California); and U.S. Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy (D-Massachusetts).

“Congratulations, and thank you, for your commitment to our nation’s students and schools,” added Eskelsen García.

Vibrant Singer/Songwriter RaeLynn to Headline 2015 Music In Our Schools Tour and Raise Awareness for Music Education

Reston, VA (PRWEB) February 24, 2015

“Always Sing” Available Now on iTunes

Nothing gives a voice to students like music! Next month, RaeLynn will hit the road to encourage today’s youth to “Always Sing.” The mantra is also the name of an aptly titled song she wrote for the initiative, which is available now on iTunes, and celebrates the 30th Anniversary of National Music In Our Schools Month. Building on the success of the 2014 Music In Our Schools Tour, RaeLynn will visit five communities in the United States and join Give a Note Foundation and Radio Disney in sharing the message that music belongs in school.

Kicking off the 30th Anniversary of National Music In Our Schools Month this March, the tour will begin with a performance by RaeLynn at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. RaeLynn will perform at Festival Disney as part of Disney Performing Arts, a national competitive music festival, where top school instrumental and vocal ensembles compete with other groups from across the country.

The week-long bus tour, powered by Radio Disney, will make stops along the way where student ensembles will perform “Always Sing.” A highlight at each location will be a special private concert by RaeLynn, who solidified her standing as the highest charting debut single by a solo female artist in 2014, with the empowering, gold-certified “God Made Girls.” The vibrant 20-year-old CMT Next Women of Country honoree will also sing tracks from the diverse collection she penned for her Me EP (The Valory Music Co.), which climbed into the Top 5 on iTunes Top Country Albums chart upon release, and her new single, “For A Boy,” available March 9 on iTunes. No stranger to life on the road, The Voice (season 2) alum is currently on fellow Texan Miranda Lambert’s CERTIFIED PLATINUM Tour and head out with Rascal Flatts’ RIOT TOUR 2015 this summer. Radio Disney’s on-air personality Brooke Taylor will host the on-site activities and experience alongside RaeLynn at each stop.

The route includes visits to schools in five cities: Sayville High School in West Sayville, NY, near Long Island (March 9); Bowie High School in Bowie, MD, near Washington, DC, (March 10); Mason Elementary in Canton, OH, near Cleveland (March 11); Ridgeview Elementary in Hobart, IN, near Chicago, IL (March 12); and Thomas Jefferson Elementary in Jeffersonville, IN, near Louisville, KY (March 13). Culminating on March 14, students from Head Middle School in Nashville, TN, will perform with RaeLynn at the Grand Ole Opry.

Give a Note Foundation, in partnership with the National Association for Music Education, selected each school to be honored as part of the Music In Our Schools tour for their music programs’ outstanding achievements and recognizing the important role music education plays in their students’ daily curriculum.

In October 2014, RaeLynn had the opportunity to preview “Always Sing” for music educators and students from across the country. She is once again looking forward to sharing stories and honoring their musical endeavors. “There was an instant connection between me and these inspiring teachers and accomplished students,” said Raelynn. “I wanted to do something special for them and writing ‘Always Sing’ seemed like a perfect way to celebrate everything that music can do for students—and adults.”

Tabor Stamper, chair of Give a Note Foundation, comments, “We need to get everyone involved in supporting music education for students. Too often, programs are cut without regard to the life-long benefits music study provides for students. We hope through this tour that people will remember how important music was to them and how it has helped them to achieve success. RaeLynn’s song reminds us that music stays with us and we can ‘Always Sing’… or play.”

“Joining with RaeLynn, one of the brightest young names in country music, and the 2015 Music In Our Schools Tour was a natural fit for Radio Disney,” said Phil Guerini, Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Radio Disney. “We regularly host artists at Radio Disney Studios who were positively impacted by music education in their schools. We are excited to support this program and RaeLynn.”

For information about the tour, real-time updates and photos, visit: http://www.giveanote.org and follow #AlwaysSing on Twitter. Follow RaeLynn on Twitter and raelynnofficial.net/.

Give A Note Foundation—Since 2011, Give A Note has conducted national awareness campaigns and raised funds to support and strengthen music education programs across the U.S. The programs have reached millions of parents and students and provided more than $ 1 million in direct grants to schools. Music In Our Schools Month (MIOSM®) is a program of affiliated organization, the National Association for Music Education. MIOSM spotlights music education and the benefits music teachers bring to their students and school communities.
