UNC Humanities in Action: Globalization: How It Has Transformed our World since 1945 with Michael H. Hunt, Everett H. Emerson Professor of History Emeritus
We take globalization for granted, communicating instantaneously across continents, consuming products made by strangers in faraway lands, and enjoying cultural fare from areas outside our own communities. The global economy is here to stay, but how did it emerge? What makes our current world so different than other eras characterized by overseas trade? Michael Hunt, author of The World Transformed, Carolina’s go-to textbook for contemporary global history, will explore the history behind and the meaning of globalization in this kickoff lecture.
