Universal Studios Island of Adventure Theme Park Information

Taking the theme park concept and turning it up a notch, Universal Studios unveiled Islands Of Adventure in 1999.  This park is more elaborately designed than Universal Studios, which lies ten minutes away on foot.  Islands of adventure consists of five compact islands arranged around a central lagoon called the Great Inland Sea.  State of the art rides keep thrill seekers happy whilst the younger folk will be enchanted by attractions like Seuss Landing which is based on the work of children's author Dr Seuss.

There are no direct movies tie ins at IOA, with the park taking its themes from a number of sources including cartoon characters, comic books  and myth.  Compared to Universal Studios there are very few shows or street performances, hardly any attempt to educate the customer or give behind the scenes tours.  The only order of business at IOA is FUN!  Despite often finding lengthy cues at peak times, Islands of Adventure offer masses of fun for all the family.

The five main islands on Islands of Adventure are:

Seuss Landing

Older children may feel ourt of place here but younger children and adults will be charmed by this technicolor universe inspired by the Dr Seuss.

The Los Continent

Cross a massive timber bridge and find yourself in the Lost Continent an island devoted to all thing mythical and magical think middles ages meets Lord of the Rings.

Jurassic Park

As the name suggest Jurassic Park is a dinosaur themed island.

Toon Lagoon

Is an island devoted to all things cartoon, meet some of your favourite characters including Popeye, Betty Boop and Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Marvel Super Heroes Islands

Again this needs no introduction a whole island devoted to Marvel Comics Superheros, includes the thrilling Incredible Hulk Coaster.

As you can see there's plenty to do for all the family.  I would suggest arriving early maybe as much an hour before the park opens to reduce times spent queuing for rides and attractions and have the best chance of fitting it all in.
