The data is clear – female entrepreneurs have great opportunity to start businesses within their communities. If you are ready to apply your skills, experience, and perspective to founding a woman-owned business, Kauffman FastTrac is here to help with specially tailored curriculum that equips women entrepreneurs to tap their unique strengths and build business strategies to succeed. FastTrac offers group-oriented courses tailored to help women launch or grow businesses by providing essential framework, strategies, and insights along with a reliable support network of leaders and peers. FastTrac NewVenture for the Female Entrepreneur will: Leverage your business skills to increase productivity. Network with other professionals as you define and build your business. Enhance your negotiation, marketing, and financial skills.   FastTrac NewVenture is for aspiring entrepreneurs who have an idea for a business but need a plan and framework for successfully starting a company:  Discover how your business concept matches your personal vision. Align your business concept with a real market opportunity. Learn how to set realistic financial goals for your business. Determine the unique features and benefits of your product/service. Find your target market and discover your competitive advantage. Learn how to manage business functions and develop an organizational culture. Determine the steps to profitability. Identify potential sources of funding for your business.   Specialized topics for women entrepreneurs include: Networking Effective negotiation Strategic decision making Building a board Social media Financing your business   About the Columbia College Program Columbia College, an affiliate partner of Kauffman FastTrac, will be offering FastTrac NewVenture for the Female Entrepreneur in three locations in 2015-2016, with sponsorship provided by the South Carolina Department of Commerce Innovation Challenge and the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and in partnership with the Center for Women's SC Women's Business Center. Each program will meet for ten weeks on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30 pm for a total of 30 class hours. The registration fee of 0 includes all program materials, access to a mentor, three business counseling sessions with the Center for Women's SC Women's Business Center program, dinner and snacks for class sessions, and a graduation ceremony for which guests may be invited. A seat deposit of will be applied to the tuition, payable in three 0 installments over three months. Dates are as follows: Columbia: August 18 – October 20 | October 27 – Graduation Charleston: January 12 –March 15, 2016 | March 22, 2016 – Graduation Greenville: March 29 - May 31, 2016 | June 2, 2016 – Graduation About Columbia College & SC Women's Entrepreneurial Network Moving South Carolina women from start to growth. The Institute for Leadership & Professional Excellence at Columbia College and the Center for Women/SC Women's Business Center have forged the “South Carolina Women’s Entrepreneurial Network” (SCWEN) alliance to connect, serve and accelerate growth of a new generation of women-owned businesses and empower women toward economic independence. The partnership is powered by grant funding from the South Carolina Department of Commerce Innovation Challenge. The SCWEN coalition will: Grow a supportive, connected innovation community by assembling and facilitating information exchange among a coalition of partners whose missions align with empowering women-led businesses; by developing a mentor ecosystem to support and serve women at all stages of business; by compiling research and resources; and by advocating and disseminating information and driving action to support a women-led economy. Support access to capital for women owned entities at all stages of development by connecting women to funds and capital resources.
